Yes, your dog is welcome at Orape Riverside Retreat but there are a few doggy rules to follow. Please see below:
- One dog allowed
- The property is not fenced so you will need to keep an eye on your dog.
- Your dog must be good with other dogs in case it comes in contact with the dog that lives on the property
- Your dog must be up-to-date with vaccinations and either regularly wormed or dosed at least 48 hours prior to arrival (find out more about Ovis Management in NZ)
- Please pick up all droppings (please bring doggy pick-up bags)
- Any dogs that are not 100% toilet trained are to be kept outside or in a crate while inside the cabin
- Please bring your own crate and/or dog bed and do not allow your dog on any furniture or soft furnishings
- If your dog hasn't encountered sheep before, please use a leash when walking near the neighbours' sheep in the paddock next door. This will allow you to assess their reaction before letting them off the leash, ensuring the safety of the livestock
- There are no predator traps or poison in the area. However, if your dog ventures deeper into the bush, be aware that the reserves may have bait traps in place.
Orape Riverside Retreat is only 5 minutes from Whangārei so you may experience some faint traffic noise during your stay.
While the accommodation is private, you will catch the occasional glimpses of your host's house through the trees in certain areas.
There is no direct vehicle access to the cabin, so you'll need to take a three-minute walk through the forest from your car to the cabin.
Parking is available up the driveway. Larger vehicles will need to park in the culdesac on the street, just off the main road.
You're welcome to come and go from the property as often as you please.
