EATING AND DRINKING

Nestle Inn is self-catering. Just bring your own food and drink, and cook meals using the single gas ring cooker provided in your outdoor kitchen. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.

When it comes to dining options, your host has some great recommendations for you in nearby Featherston. For dinner, consider trying out Brac and Bow. If you're in the mood for some takeaway, check out Vixen Burger. Cheese enthusiasts shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit theC'est Cheese factory. For delightful treats, head over to Baker Featherston, but be sure to arrive early as they tend to sell out fast. Things to Do

THINGS TO DO

Nestle Inn is a picturesque retreat, perfect for relaxation. Board games and cards are provided.

If you want to stretch your legs, take a 5-minute leisurely stroll to Boar Bush Gully Stream on the property. Dip your feet in to cool down on a hot summer's day. The Barr-Brown Bush Reserve is just 3 minutes down the road for a 20-minute stroll. For a longer adventure, walk down Boar Bush Gully Road to reach the Featherston Water Reservoir, which is a 30-minute walk each way. Continue onwards up the steep hill to reach the power pylons; the panoramic views make the effort worthwhile!

Featherston is known as New Zealand's only book town, featuring seven secondhand bookshops where you can discover captivating reads to enjoy by Nestle Inn's cosy fireplace. For those interested in history, the Fell Locomotive Museum showcases the only remaining steam-powered Fell railway locomotive in the world.

Your Hosts

YOUR HOSTS

Phil and his white poodle, Gussy, are your hosts at Nestle Inn.

Eight years ago, Phil and his late wife Alex embarked on a journey that transformed an overgrown wilderness into this hidden gem. Initially, they sought a weekend camping escape from their life on a yacht in Wellington. However, after a memorable night of possum serenades in a tent, they swiftly realized the need for a cosy cabin. With the help of loved ones, the cabin was lovingly built into what is now known as 'Nestle Inn.' Today, Nestle Inn is not just a cabin; it's a testament to Phil and Alex's love for nature and hospitality. Gussy the poodle will also occasionally check in to ensure all is well.

A portion of the funds from your stay will be donated in Alex's memory to her chosen charity, the SPCA.
