Eating and Drinking

EATING AND DRINKING

Harri's Hut is self-catering. Just bring your own food and drink, and cook meals using the two-burner cast iron gas rings and Weber BBQ provided in your sheltered outdoor kitchen. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.

For a quick and easy takeaway meal, Clinton is just a 5-minute drive away.

The nearest store for stocking up on some foods and supplies is in Clinton (a small local store). Larger supermarkets can be found in Balclutha and Gore, both a 30-minute drive from the hut.

Things to Do

THINGS TO DO

A stay at Harri's Hut is a break from the world. Relax with the native birds and the sweeping farmland views.

Take a refreshing 20-minute bush walk (each way) from the hut to the top of the hill, with epic views along the way. After your adventure, relax in the wood-fired outdoor bath or unwind in the swinging chair under the shady trees.

Just 5 minutes away in Clinton is a 9-hole golf course and boutique upholstery shop. Nearby attractions include the Waipahi Wetland boardwalk (10 minutes away), trout fishing spots (15 minutes away), and the stunning Catlins Forest Park with its tramping trails and beaches (45 minutes away). More information can be found in the Welcome Guide in your hut.

Your Hosts

YOUR HOSTS

Your hosts at Harri's Hut are Andy, Emilee, and their two boys Harri and Hudson.

Andy and Emilee have called this special property home for over a decade. The farm is well located yet offers hidden treasures — beautiful pockets of native bush, tussock land, and amazing views.

Andy is a farmer and Emilee is a full-time mum, therapist, and advocate for Harri, who courageously battles a rare genetic brain condition, as well as epilepsy. The family's journey has been challenging, with Harri requiring intensive therapy six days a week and frequent emergency helicopter flights to Dunedin Hospital.

Harri loves joining his dad on the farm and being outdoors with him. Andy and Emilee hope to share their slice of paradise while raising awareness about genetic brain conditions in children. They dream of eventually establishing the hut as a charity supporting other families facing similar struggles.

TESTIMONIALS

“ We had a great experience at Harri's Hut full of relaxation. The hut has been perfectly put together with obvious thought and consideration put into every detail. We went during the winter and were concerned we would get cold, but the hut was so cosy and we were more than comfortable our entire stay. ”

“ Our stay at Harri's Hut was amazing. We only stayed for one night on our trip around the Catlins, and this was our only regret. Would have loved to stay longer and spend more nights in the bath. ”

“ Harri’s Hut was the most amazing place to stay. The views are incredible, and although it looks like a rustic hut, the comfy bed and little additions make it feel luxurious. We would definitely stay again. ”

“ It was what we were looking for, just being able to shut off from the world for a few days. Seeing Andrew and what I can only assume are some staff who help run the farm whenever we returned from getting food or a day trip, they were always happy and waving. It was just perfect. You felt like you were being welcomed home, in all honesty. ”

“ Campbell and I love Canopy Camping and have stayed at a few huts in NZ. Harris Hut had a beautiful story alongside it, a beautiful setting, and Andy, the host, was very attentive in ensuring we were comfortable. We took our 11-week-old baby for our first family staycation, and she happily slept in her carry cot, nice and cosy from the burner, which also looks amazing inside the rustic hut. We would happily stay at Harris Hut again. 10/10. ”
