Things to Do

THINGS TO DO

French Peak Wagon is an atmospheric escape from the modern world. Hunker down in the wagon and soak up the glorious views, and lounge in the large bean bags in the vineyard. Or get out and about to explore the region.

On the property, enjoy a game of petanque or a walk around the extensive garden. Designed for wandering - explore the stunning forest area, around the ponds and small waterfall, and admire the variety of native plants.

Try out our new game - Who Stole the Grapes. It involves solving 5 puzzles that are spread around the vineyard and grounds. It was designed and brought to life by a man who ran a games cafe in Christchurch and an Escape Room creator. If guests would like to book this they can do. More details are here - French Peak - Who stole the grapes .

Take a stroll down the road to French Farm Bay, only 5 minutes away. About 10 minutes drive away is the popular Shamarra Alpacas Farm and Wainui Beach.

Akaroa, a small historic town, will also provide plenty of activities or places to eat to keep you entertained (15 minutes away).

Your Hosts

YOUR HOSTS

Simon, Carolyn and their cats Kumara, Manuka and Karengo are your hosts at French Peak Wagon.

Simon and Carolyn purchased French Peak in 2021 while living in Singapore. They finally made the move to New Zealand in May 2022, once borders were opened.

The couple love Banks Peninsula - and wine! They had been looking for a joint project. French Peak, with its wagon and barn accommodation, as well as its vineyard and cellar door fitted the bill perfectly.

The greenery, sea and hill views, birds, vineyards and super-friendly people are just some of the things they enjoy about living in this beautiful part of the world. They're looking forward to welcoming guests to enjoy it with them!

“ French Peak Wagon was exactly what we needed to disconnect from the world and reconnect to each other. We had the best time away. There are so many highlights, but our main ones were the outdoor wood-fired bath, being able to bring the dog, and the unique, warm and cosy accommodation. Simon and his wife were amazing hosts and had thought of everything to make the stay a weekend not to forget. We'll 100% be back and have told lots of people about it. ”
